Allegations or not, James Franco will return to work on HBO’s ‘The Deuce’
James Franco is all set to be a big part of HBO’s The Deuce according to Entertainment Weekly — even after five women have come forward with allegations of inappropriate behavior. The Deuce writer Megan Abbott stated Franco would “of course” be a part of the show’s second season.
On January 11, an article from the LA Times published details of the five women who accused Franco of misusing his power. Reports have been made by those close to Franco alleging the accusations are false and untrue. In interviews with Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert, Franco denied the legitimacy of these allegations.
According to Franco, the allegations are “not accurate” and he said he prides himself on “taking responsibility for things” he has done. Franco said he does support those women who are coming out and telling their stories, but in his case, he claims the stories are untrue.

David Simon, co-creator of The Deuce, claims no complaints against Franco were made during the production and filming of the series.
"I’m still reading it the same as everyone else, trying to discern what is or isn’t there. Personally I can only speak knowledgeably to The Deuce. I’ve checked with all my fellow producers and other personnel. We have no complainant or complaint of any awareness of any incident of concern involving Mr. Franco.”"
These allegations surfaced following the Golden Globes where Franco snagged the award for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy” for his role in the movie biopic The Disaster Artist. However, Franco was left out of the nominations for the Oscars after the allegations surfaced.
