Sabrina the Teenage Witch is coming to Netflix, and the streaming giant has cast its Aunt Zelda.

With the massive success of Riverdale on The CW, the reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch ended up pushing forward. However, while The CW was the original goal, the more adult-version of the classic Archie series instead will head over to Netflix as the streaming giant continues to build up its lineup of original programming. The series picked up the title of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the casting process has heated up.

The new Sabrina the Teenage Witch series had already cast its main character, as Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) will play Sabrina. Also, cast up until now is Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman) as Aunt Hilda, and a supporting cast that includes Jaz Sinclair, Michelle Homez and Chance Perdomo.

Now, we can add the actress who will play Aunt Zelda to the cast list. TV Line reports that Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings) has signed on to portray the second of Sabrina’s two aunts.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will likely share nothing with the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch. As a matter of fact, Melissa Joan Hart spoke about what she thought of the new series to Vogue, and she didn’t seem that interested.

"“I think our show was about magic and family, and I think the new one — it sounds like, I have no idea — but the new one is going to be more about witchcraft, dark stuff.”"

Hart also compared The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to something that sounds more like Buffy the Vampire Slayer than the show she helped popularize. That makes sense when reading the character description for Aunt Zelda.

"Proud and devout, Zelda believes there is no greater honor than serving the Dark Lord as a member of the Church of Night. She is the family’s disciplinarian, fiercely protective of Sabrina and very much Cain to Hilda’s Abel."

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is described as a “dark coming-of-age” story and Sabrina the Teenage Witch will have to reconcile her half-witch, half-mortal conflicts.
