Luke Cage season 2 gets a premiere date and new trailer

Luke Cage fans won’t have to wait much longer for the unbreakable man to return to Netflix with his premiere date slated for June 22.

The streaming service released a short teaser trailer today with the good news as well as a new set of photos. While the 30-second clip doesn’t offer up much news about the season, it’s still fun to see the hero once again.

What’s unique about the clip is Luke’s willingness to fully embrace his heroism. While the other Defenders save lives in the shadows, he has become a beacon of light in Harlem. The Luke Cage teaser sees the hero addressing the camera directly while he challenges any criminal to face him. Based on the shot of Luke on fire as he walks away from a truck, it’s safe to say there’s a new bad guy in town who’s trying to get rid of Harlem’s hero.

The most exciting of all of the new photos, Misty Knight can be seen using her bionic arm to hurt a few bad guys. It’s always nice to see her working alongside Luke, and will be interesting to see if she’s still a member of the police force.

What many viewers want to know is whether Misty will be teaming up with Colleen Wing to form the Daughters of the Dragon in Luke Cage or Iron Fist. While it’s unlikely Netflix plans to give anything away involving that partnership before the show premieres, at least fans know that Misty will be getting into the action.

Why a person would try to take on Luke with a gun is something the hero must ask himself every episode. Looks like a new set of bad guys are going to learn about the unbreakable man this season when he goes to confront a violent group within a warehouse.

It doesn’t exactly seem like Mariah’s or Shade’s style to use a warehouse rather than the lavish club so someone else might be trying to take over the streets of Harlem this season.

Jessica Jones and Daredevil might shun their identities as “heroes, but in Luke Cage, the titular hero is going to embrace his neighborhood’s adoration. The picture doesn’t give anything away about the new season, but it’s still nice to see the hero goofing around with some adoring fans.

Finally, it wouldn’t be Luke Cage without Pop’s Barber Shop living as a safe zone for any member of the community. It actually looks much cleaner than when viewers saw it last, and it’s possible that Luke has made it his day job as a barber.

Or, maybe Claire Temple is running a secret clinic for heroes within its walls. Either way, Pop’s is still going to function as one of the key places within the Luke Cage universe.

There are still a lot of questions involving the sophomore run of the hit Netflix show, mainly which characters will be appearing. Danny Rand and Colleen Wing have both been teased as potential allies within this season, but will he reach out to his old flame Jessica Jones for help?

As June 22 gets closer, Netflix is sure to release more teases for Luke Cage but for now, it looks like these questions will go unanswered.  Keep the conversation going in the comments section below and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook & Twitter for more on your favorite shows!
