Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet releases season 2 trailer!

Even the undead gotta eat, right? Things are getting bloodier heading into season two of Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.
A new trailer was released for the upcoming second season of the hilarious Netflix comedy this week that shows Barrymore’s character Sheila, who is as undead as ever. If you recall, season one showed Sheila’s comedic journey to becoming undead — and her intense desire to consume human flesh.
While season one almost led to a cure, the Hammond family decided that Sheila needs to be chained up in the basement, for her own good. The season two trailer shows Sheila falling apart with the desire to feed, but unable to go anywhere. The first look at the second season hints that there may be others like her in Santa Clarita when a string of dismembered bodies start springing up. This won’t end well, will it?
Based on its new trailer, Santa Clarita Diet already promises to live up to the gore, comedy, and cockamamy storyline that we became accustomed to from its inaugural season.
Obviously, we know Sheila’s confinement to the basement doesn’t last very long as her carnal urges to feed are very graphic in the season two trailer. And the more undead she becomes, the more her body starts to decay (case in point, her finger flies off during a scene in the trailer).
So what can we expect from season two of Santa Clarita Diet? Well, for starters, the desire to find a cure will be at the top of the Hammond family’s list. And as the trailer indicates, there may be more of the undead, which makes it even more important to stop the virus from spreading.
We hope the quest to find a cure will be different than season one and involve more of Abby (Liv Hewson), Sheila and Joel’s daughter, along with their neighbor Eric (Skyler Gisondo). The two made an absolutely hilarious team last season, and if the new trailer is any indication, we can expect to see a lot more of them.

And we have a sneaking suspicion that in the new season, it may get out that Santa Clarita is starting to shift towards the undead population, which can only wreak chaos and havoc on the town. And with Sheila’s new cop friend in their lives, things are about to get a hell of a lot more complicated.

Be on the lookout for more guest stars this season including Joel McHale, Maggie Lawson, Zachary Knighton, Gerald McRaney, and Nathan Fillion, well at least his head anyway.
