Big Little Lies begins filming season 2
The critically acclaimed HBO series, Big Little Lies, began filming March 16, 2018.
The real housewives of Monterey are back! That’s right, the all-star cast of the wildly popular show, Big Little Lies, is now officially filming season 2.
Many of the cast members of the hit series posted pictures and videos from the set this past weekend.
Reese Witherspoon, one of the show’s co-producers and stars, posted a shot of herself and Laura Dern captioned, “Watch out Monterey, here we come! #BLL2” Dern posted the same photo captioned, “Madeline and Renata are back! #BLL2”
Both Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz, who play Jane and Bonnie, both shared pictures from their first day on set, March 16.
Based on Liane Moriarty’s book Big Little Lies, the limited series was rumored to only stick around for one season. But after the show won four Golden Globes and seven Emmys, it was clear HBO needed to bring the massive hit back for another season.
And they decided to bring out the big (acting) guns.

SPOILER ALERT: At the end of last season, Nicole Kidman’s Celeste Wright becomes a widow after her abusive husband’s death occurs under suspicious circumstances. Kidman will reprise her award-winning role, and Hollywood legend Meryl Streep will play her mother-in-law.
Since Moriarty didn’t write a sequel to her first book, no one is sure what the second season has in store for audiences as far as a plot. With the addition of Streep, we can only assume she will be looking for answers about her son’s death.
In addition to Witherspoon, Dern, Woodley, and Kravitz, returning players from the first season of Big Little Lies also includes Adam Scott, Iain Armitage, James Tupper, and Gordon Klein.
