Carrie is on the case

Season 7 of Homeland picks up with Carrie having left her job yet again on unpleasant terms. She is again living with family, this time with her sister Maggie — Franny in tow of course. However, it does not take Carrie long to start dabbling in the spy arts especially living in Washington D.C.

She takes on the new President Keane administration to secure the release of the 200 members of the intelligence community who were arrested under President Keane’s orders the previous season. As has been seen before, once Carrie starts on a trail, there is no telling where it may eventually lead.

Carrie calls Max and a few other off the radar types to start gathering information on a growing list of suspects in the death of General McClendon and the conspiracy playing out with the 200 arrested citizens.

Clues to bigger conspiracies lie amongst the fringes of the actual evidence, and only Carrie can conduct the investigation properly, according to Carrie. Saul and her sister have differing opinions of her capability and have grown tired of her behavior, regardless of her medication compliance.

Oh, and let’s not forget Carrie must use Frannie as an excuse and leverage whenever there are no other straws to grasp. Carrie has Frannie as a last resort for family issues like she has a propensity to get naked with corrupt and dangerous men to earn slivers of information.

The whole country, just like Carrie, has its issues which lead to the clutching of pearls and grasping at straws. This in between trying to act like everything is normal to the insistent creation of strawmen to destroy. Bipolar seems a correct diagnosis for both Carrie and the country.

This new untethered and improperly medicated Carrie Matheson is punch drunk and overwhelmed by the last few rounds of life. It is no wonder she is targeted as a weak link by foreign actors. She did not take that news well at all and was told to keep her distance by Saul. Does she ever?

By the end of the last episode, Carrie had been dressed down in a variety of ways, on all fronts. Her sister is trying to protect Frannie from Carrie. Saul is trying to protect her from herself.
