Ever since he broke out as The Rock in the WWE, Dwayne Johnson has enjoyed the biggest of success, including with his HBO series Ballers.

However, despite being the Most Electrifying Man on Sports Entertainment in the WWE and one of the biggest box office attractions in movie history, Dwayne Johnson has suffered from depression in his life.

The Express recently published an interview with Johnson about depression. In that interview, the site revealed some disturbing and shocking things from his past that showed how life has not always been easy for the man known as The Rock.

The article started a conversation online and Johnson even reached out via Twitter to link to a Fox News article about the interview and let fans know that it is important for people with depression to open up and realize they are not alone.

The story about Johnson had a couple of points from Johnson’s past that is widely known and one shocking moment that paints a new light on his battles with depression.

Johnson has spoken up in the past about his struggles when his football career crumbled. He went to Canada to try to catch on with a CFL team and they waived him. Johnson said that he was homeless and had no idea what he was going to do with his life. He calls it one of his toughest times but also calls them “defining.”

However, those times have no comparison to the moment The Express revealed about Johnson. The actor said that he struggles with depression and was completely devastated when his mother attempted suicide in front of him.

They had been evicted from their apartment a few months before this moment.

"“She got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic,” Johnson said. “Big rigs and cars were swerving out of the way. I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road.”"

Dwayne Johnson was only 15-years-old when this happened. He said that his mother has no memories of the event and that it is better that way. While he said that his release from the CFL, immediately followed by his girlfriend breaking up with him, was his “absolute worst time,” the memories of what happened with his mother has to weigh on him.
