Doctor Who: Six of the Doctor’s Most Bada** Moments
By Sam Callahan
Six epic Doctor Who moments to tide you over until the new season starts in Fall 2018.
So maybe you’re new to Doctor Who or perhaps you’re waiting around for the new season to start this fall (according to BBCAmerica on Youtube), and you need a reminder exactly how kick-butt the Doctor truly is.
Let’s take a quick look at a few of my favorite of his faces…
Fainty Doctor
Party Doctor
Dance’y Doctor
and Swirly Doctor….
Ok, you got me. Those aren’t the faces we’re focusing on for our B.A. Doctor Moments. Check out a smattering of my favorites below —

6. Season 7 – “Asylum of the Daleks”
Rory asks, “Who killed all the Daleks?”
The Doctor walks out with his iconic Eleventh swagger, carrying a fainted Amy, explosion-smudged like the hardest among us and spits out, “Who do you think?”
BADASS!
5. Season 3 – “Family of Blood”
“He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing. The fury of the time lord. And then we discovered why. Why this doctor, who had fought with gods and demons, why he’d run away from us and hidden. He was being kind.”
The Doctor knew the family of Blood wanted to live forever, so he concocted a series of punishments for each of them to make sure they stood witness to the rest of eternity.
He was running from them to SAVE THEM FROM HIS OWN WRATH; I mean, come on, people. Legendary.
4. Season 4 – “Forest of the Dead”
“You just killed someone I like; that is not a safe place to stand. I’m the Doctor and you’re in the biggest Library in the universe. Look me up.” And the Vashta Nerada retreat, tails between their legs — if they had tails — or legs.
You might recognize this moment as the one which precedes one of the most notoriously sad moments of all of NuWho, but that’s for an entirely separate article, so shh,
3. Season 3 – “Family of Blood”
“He’s like fire and ice and rage. He’s like the night and the storm and the heart of the sun. He’s ancient and forever. He burns at the center of time, and he can see the center of the universe. And he’s wonderful.”
There are so many epic speeches to choose from, why-oh-why did I choose two from the same episode? Well, it’s because sometimes the best way to learn about a person — real or fictional — is to hear what other people have to say about them. I could fill a whole list in-and-of itself with the epic things people say about the Doctor, but this one tops the charts.

2. Season 5 – Time of the Angels
“There’s one thing you never put in a trap if you’re smart. If you value your continued existence, if you have any plans about seeing tomorrow. There’s one thing you never, ever put in a trap: Me.”
The moment here when he interrupts this epic speech to look around at his crew and ask each of them if they trust him… *feels*.
He always checks in with his companions; he always makes sure to look everyone in their eye sockets and let them know he’s their leader, he’ll keep them safe, as long as they work together and have a little faith. Gorgeous.
1. Season 5 – “The Pandorica Opens”
River Song mentions this moment in “Forest of the Dead,” her first two-parter in the series. She says to Anita, “Now, my Doctor … I’ve seen whole armies turn and run at the mention of his name.”
He’s a terrifying force to be reckoned with, and that makes his kindness and compassion that much more meaningful. His emotions run deep, and he isn’t one to be crossed. We could all do with a hero like the Doctor in our lives to help make us feel just a little more badass.
Give those episodes a watch or a re-watch in the meantime while we wait for the new season to start…
