Hulu’s Catch-22 reveals the rest of its core casting.

Catch-22, the new Hulu miniseries based on the novel by Joseph Heller and directed, produced, and co-starring George Clooney, has revealed the rest of its main cast. Alongside Clooney it had already been announced that Hugh Laurie would co-star as Major de Coverely, Christopher Abbott as the main character Yossarian, and Kyle Chandler as Colonel Cathcart (formerly Clooney’s role before he took the smaller role of Scheisskopf to focus on directing).

The series, which features a plethora of characters, has added eight new cast members to fill those spots. Daniel David Stewart (The Band’s Visit) will play mess officer Milo Minderbinder, and Austin Stowell (Battle of the Sexes) plays Lieutenant Nately, Yossarian’s closest friend who is the epitome of American optimism.

More from Hulu

Rafi Gavron (Counterpart) will play the inept navigator Captain Aardvark (Aarfy), and Graham Patrick Martin (Major Crimes) will play the good-natured Orr whose plane is constantly getting shot down.

Pico Alexander (A Most Violent Year) will play Yossarian’s philosophical foil, Clevinger and Jon Rudnitsky (Saturday Night Live) will play McWatt, the prankster pilot who Yossarian thinks is “too sane.”

Gerran Howell (Young Dracula) will play Kid Sampson, McWatt’s shy and boyish co-pilot whose life will tragically end by McWatt’s hand, and Lewis Pullman (Battle of the Sexes) will play the unassuming Squadron Commander Major Major, who only allows people to see him when he’s not in his office.

While this casting represents a significant chunk of the characters in the book, it still doesn’t come close to completing the full contingent. There are still at least three important characters left to cast and a handful of secondary characters if the miniseries goes by the book, so to speak. You may have noticed there hasn’t yet been any women cast, and there are a couple of female characters that play very important roles in the plot. So fans can expect more casting announcements to come in the next few months before production starts.
