Just a few days ago, season 5 of Arrested Development had been confirmed for a release date sometime this summer, now another question has been answered: Bluth patriarch Jeffrey Tambor has been will be returning next season.

Tambor’s involvement in season 5 of Arrested Development had previously been very much in the air after sexual misconduct allegations against him surfaced as part of the fallout of #MeToo.

Tambor has been one of the bigger names affected by #MeToo as the previously mentioned sexual misconduct allegations caused him to be fired from his Emmy winning role in the Amazon Studios  TV series Transparent a few months ago. It was a decision that Tambor has openly slammed, claiming his exit was caused by a “political atmosphere”.

Regardless of which side of the argument you fall under, this was going to be something of a no-win situation.  Even if Netflix and the showrunners decided not to bring Tambor back, his absence would’ve been a big elephant in the room.

Even so, Netflix’s willingness to let Tambor come back is more than a little puzzling. The streaming service has been plagued by claims of various forms of harassment. It’s something Netflix has had difficulty dealing with, as many subscribers were discontent with the way the service handled complaints against Stranger ThingsHouse of Cards, and others.

When the allegations against Kevin Spacey came to light, Netflix wasted very little time firing him from House of Cards.  It’s also worth noting this caused a much bigger problem for Netflix since House of Cards has been one of Netflix’s signature shows and Spacey’s ousting naturally caused a major possibly shark jumping level upheaval for the show moving forward.
