Get ready to rock — Daisy Jones & The Six will hit Amazon in the near future.

Amazon Studios continues to add to its growing list of television series.

The streaming service ordered 13 episodes of a limited series based on the upcoming novel Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. What makes this series even more buzz-worthy, is that Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine will produce it. Did I mention the book hasn’t even been released yet? It won’t debut until March 2019.

That Reese is on fire these days!

Witherspoon somehow got to read the book before anyone else and was an early fan. In fact, the cover will contain her endorsement quote! She purchased the film and T.V. rights almost immediately.

Witherspoon was an early fan of the book and provided a raving endorsement quote for its cover as her company nabbed film and TV rights. She said,

"“As soon as I started reading Daisy Jones & The Six, I immediately fell head over heels in love with it, and I’m thrilled to be bringing it to the screen with Amazon and Jen Salke, whose passionate pursuit of the material spoke volumes. With Neustadter and Weber, two writers I deeply admire, stewarding this project, I am so confident that Daisy and her band’s journey toward finding their voice will leave just as permanent a mark with viewers around the world as it did with me.”"

Daisy Jones & The Six follows a fictional ‘70s rock band as they navigate their way through the L.A. music scene until they become the most famous band in the world. I picture this to be Almost Famous meets Josie and the Pussycats.

Amazon is also planning to produce brand new music for the show and making it available exclusively through Amazon Music.

It’s exciting that strong female characters continue to be portrayed on television without an end in sight. And this will be a strong female character, written by a strong female writer, and produced by strong female showrunners.

Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, both writers and recent Oscar nominees of The Disaster Artist, will write the pilot. Neustadter is married to Hello Sunshine’s Head of film and T.V., Lauren Neustadter.

No word on casting or when filming will begin just yet. But we’ll keep you posted!
