Chilling Adventures of Sabrina drops first look photos of Kiernan Shipka

Netflix drops a couple of first look photos for the upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina adaptation.

As the fall creeps closer, anticipation builds for Netflix’s latest horror venture. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the dark reimagining of Sabrina the Teenage Witch from Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is easily one of the most talked about shows for October.

Netflix has done a good job of keeping details about the series under wraps but the streaming service unveiled two pictures of the series lead, Kiernan Shipka.

Both pictures seem to showcase the dueling tones of the upcoming series. One photo shows an innocent Sabrina basking in the light while the other features her shrouded in darkness surrounded by other witches.

Based on the pictures, she might be battling evil on her own in the first season, as well as her own family.

This should come as no surprise considering Riverdale is a much darker take on the classic Archie Comic characters as well. Aguirre-Sacasa also wrote the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic books, which debuted to critical acclaim. Having him at the helm is definitely a boost of confidence for anyone unsure about the upcoming Netflix series.

For Kiernan Shipka, this seems like a wildly different role than the one which launched her stardom. She originally started out as Sally Draper on Mad Men, Don Draper’s rebellious daughter. However, it seems like Sally, Sabrina won’t be willing to just roll over at the sign of conflict. Netflix has described the new series as a mix between Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist.
