First look photo at the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina adaptation

Riverdale might be on hiatus but Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is hard at work with Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The showrunner for both series tweeted a first look photo at the adaptation’s biggest couple — Sabrina and Harvey. While the horror series is expected to be much darker than Melissa Joan Hart’s version, the picture promises some more light-hearted moments for the young witch.

Compared to the original show, Kiernan Shipka and Ross Lynch both look more like the ages they’re portraying. Considering this version of Sabrina is supposed to be closer to Rosemary’s Baby, it makes sense to cast actors who look young.

It makes the darker experiences they’ll go through much more effective.

As production ramps up for the Netflix series, more and more behind the scenes sneak peeks have leaked to the public. Recently, Aguirre-Sacasa shared a photo of the cat playing Salem ready to stir up some trouble.

He’s also teased a photo of the Spellman family business: a mortuary. Although, this series definitely doesn’t feel like it’s going to follow the My Girl movie.

In every horror movie there’s a creepy morgue, and unfortunately, it’s going to be on Sabrina’s home turf. Of course, Aunt Zelda is going to be a devout follower of the dark arts and the mortuary could be a cover for something more sinister.

As exciting as the first look photo for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is, the internet went crazy over the rumors of a big crossover. Aguirre-Sacasa also is the showrunner for Riverdale and since the two towns are only separated by a river, it seemed feasible a crossover could happen.

In fact, Jughead and his serpent buddies visited Greendale earlier this season. Unfortunately, Netflix shot down the idea for the time being while the horror series focuses on telling its own story.

Fans will just have to look forward to unofficial crossovers above since the two shows both film in Vancouver. While the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina photo might not be as dark as some expected, it definitely promises some light for the series.
