J. Michael Straczynski had a strong footing in science fiction television as the creator of Babylon 5 so when he teamed with the Wachowski siblings, who create the Matrix, the three created something magical.
Sense8 is a Netflix series that aired for two seasons and 24 episodes. The series was critically lauded — especially when it comes to LGBTQ characters and themes, the first season winning the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Drama Series.
The science fiction TV series surrounded the psychic connection between eight strangers from around the world who learn of their connection after a woman commits suicide to avoid being captured by a man called “Whispers.” These eight people are both emotionally and mentally linked.
While the eight people are trying to live their lives and learn why and how their links works, Whispers is trying to hunt them down.
Netflix canceled Sense8 after two seasons despite the storyline not being concluded. The writers tried to get the show back to finish their story and when the fans of the series got involved, their passion convinced Netflix to bring it back — but just for a finale.
