This is Us news: Melanie Liburd promoted to series regular
Not sure who Melanie Liburd is? She played Beth’s cousin Zoe who ends up being Kevin’s love interest in the Season 2 finale of This Is Us.
With just over a month until This is Us returns to our televisions, the hit drama decided to upgrade one of its guest stars from last season.
Melanie Liburd, who appeared in the Season 2 finale as Beth’s cousin, Zoe, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 3. This should serve as no surprise here because, at the end of the finale, we see Zoe with Kevin (Justin Hartley), clearly a couple, flying to Vietnam.
Zoe attended Kate and Toby’s wedding as the photographer. We find out that Zoe is Beth’s cousin, but that Beth’s mother raised her. She has a special moment with Beth and Randall’s foster child, Déjà.

Liburd has made other television appearances in Gypsy on Netflix and Dark Matter on the SyFy network. The British actress also appeared in Game of Thrones as a Street Red Priestess in Meereen.
We know that the show will dive deeper into Jack’s experience in Vietnam this season. Jack, played by Milo Ventimiglia, lost his younger brother in the war. And we can only assume the loss profoundly affected him. Kevin and Zoe’s trip will most certainly parallel with flashbacks of his father and uncle.
Last week, the show announced that Jack’s brother Nicky would be played by Michael Angarano (Will & Grace).
In addition to Ventimiglia and Harley, This is Us stars Mandy Moore as Rebecca, Sterling K. Brown as Randall, and Chrissy Metz as Kate. Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan round out the cast as Beth and Toby.
Get ready, because This is Us’ much-anticipated third season premieres September 25 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
