Details of Jon Favreau’s new Star Wars series revealed

Director Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1 and 2, The Jungle Book) has now revealed some details of the new live-action Star Wars series he will create exclusively for Disney’s upcoming streaming service.
Deadline reports that the series will be titled The Mandalorian, a name Star Wars fans may recognize as the alien race of fan-favorite character Boba Fett.
According to Favreau, The Mandalorian will take place after the events of the first trilogy but also before the First Order comes into power.
He also adds “We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
Intriguing even if it sounds a bit like the opening narration from Firefly. Favreau will write the script for the series and also serve as the executive producer.
This is a rather interesting development considering the long-rumored Boba Fett spinoff has in all likelihood been put on the back burner indefinitely in the wake of Disney CEO Bob Iger’s recent announcement.
The Disney-head said that they plan to scale back the production of future Star Wars films after Solo’s underperformance.
Given the timeline of the show, it’s highly unlikely Boba Fett himself will be the titled “Mandalorian” but it’s a fair bet he — or his father Jango Fett — will at least be mentioned at some point.
Favraeu is currently directing the live-action remake of The Lion King which is now in post-production and slated to be released on July 19, 2019.
