Adam Scott joins The Twilight Zone in remake of Nightmare at 20,000 Feet
According to a TV Line report on Friday, Jordan Peele’s revival of The Twilight Zone will include a remake of the classic episode “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet,” featuring Adam Scott in the iconic leading role originated by William Shatner.
The original episode of The Twilight Zone features a pre-Star Trek Shatner as Bob Wilson, a frightened man on a flight where he continually sees a gremlin on the wing of the plane. No matter how much he tries to get his wife and the flight crew to believe him, no one listens as the wing gremlin terrorizes Shatner before starting to tear up a portion of the wing.
Thinking about Scott’s easily startled Ben Wyatt from Parks and Recreation makes it easy to imagine how entertainingly terrified Scott could be with whatever monster Peele puts on the wing.
Scott signs on after his most recent sitcom, Ghosted, was canceled by Fox this past summer. Scott has also appeared in a recurring role as a demon on NBC’s The Good Place.

The most important development from this announcement is that Peele’s version of The Twilight Zone will include homages, if not complete remakes, of classic episodes. Perhaps homages may be more accurate since the title of the Scott-led episode has already added 10,000 feet to the terror by being called “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet.”
This isn’t the first time “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” has been remade. The main role was taken by John Lithgow in the 1983 Twilight Zone: The Movie.
The original version of The Twilight Zone premiered in 1959 with suspense master Rod Serling leading the way. Multiple attempts have been made over the last 60 years to reboot the series (including tv series in 1985 and 2002, and the movie in 1983), but none have stuck.
The new series, led by Peele (including Peele steeping into Serling’s narrator shoes), premieres on CBS All Access in 2019.
