Susanne Bier has agreed to direct HBO’s 6-episode limited series The Undoing, starring Nicole Kidman.

The Undoing is an adaptation of the book You Should Have Known by Hanff Korelitz. It follows Nicole Kidman’s character Grace Sachs, who is seemingly living an ideal life. She’s a successful therapist in New York City who is about to publish her first book and has a devoted husband and young son. Her perfect life starts to unravel, though, following a violent death and her husband going missing. With her husband gone, Grace learns terrible things about the man she thought she knew. In the wake of the devastating and public disaster, Grace is astonished to realize she hasn’t managed to take her own advice, leading her to reconstruct a new life for her and her son.
