Gotham: Title and teaser trailer for final season released
Ahead of Gotham’s fifth season premiere next year, FOX has unveiled the season’s title and released some exciting promos.
It’s the beginning of the end, and the end of the beginning, for Gotham. The prequel FOX series will conclude with its fifth season next year, but not before introducing the character everyone has been waiting to meet.
That’s right! David Mazouz’ Bruce Wayne will finally don the cape this season, entitled “Legend of the Dark Knight.” As was previously teased at NYCC, the series finale will take place ten years in the future in order to feature the Caped Crusader, who traditionally takes the mantle in his late twenties.
That being said, the season’s title suggests that we will see teen Bruce Wayne fighting to save Gotham as a Batman-esque hero before officially becoming the Dark Knight. Which villains will the dynamic duo of Bruce and Jim Gordon face off against in season five?
Long-time fan favorites The Penguin, The Riddler, Selina Kyle and Barbara Kean, sporting a pixie cut, all make appearances in the trailer for Gotham‘s final season. Selina’s moment, just a close-up of her face is perhaps the most exciting. Teasing the teen’s transformation into Catwoman, Selina’s pupils are slits against her green irises.
Season four villain Jeremiah Valeska will be back, no doubt to continue inciting deadly mayhem. Recurring baddie Scarecrow also makes an appearance — with an army by his side.
Most notably, the teaser marks the introduction of Shane West’s Bane. He doesn’t do much except breathe through his mask and open his eyes dramatically, but he’ll definitely be stirring up trouble down the line.
Gotham will return to FOX for its fifth and final season on Thursday, January 3.
