Grace and Frankie season 5 release date announced!

One of our favorite duos is returning to Netflix in the new year!

Netflix has a huge slate of amazing content planned for 2019, including new seasons of its best television properties. Many of our favorite binge-worthy shows will be back for seconds, thirds, and even more. One of the first Netflix properties returning in the new year is original comedy Grace and Frankie. Netflix officially confirmed new episodes with a playful GIF on their See What’s Next Account on Twitter. The series will return on January 18th for its fifth season.

Grace and Frankie stars (respectively) Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as the title characters. Initially rivals, the two women bond when their lawyer husbands (Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen) leave them for…each other! After their husbands are gone, the duo is forced to navigate life together despite their differences.

The series has earned a long list of accolades which include four consecutive Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy nominations for Lily Tomlin, and SAG Awards nominations for both Tomlin and Fonda in the past two years. If the series continues at its current momentum, we may be seeing more Grace and Frankie love during awards season.

Season 5 promises even more lewdness and crudeness, with press notes stating: “They’re back, and out of f*cks to give.” The official Grace and Frankie Twitter page shared a new GIF with giant pink letters spelling out IDGAF. The latest season promises more lewdness and crudeness, and a guest appearance from the fabulous RuPaul. What kind of wild ride will Grace and Frankie take us on in season 5? We’ll have to wait until January 18th to find out. Luckily it’s not too terribly far away.
