Natasha Lyonne comedy Russian Doll announces premiere date
Russian Doll is the all-new female-directed series you need to see on Netflix!
Known for her roles in But I’m a Cheerleader, Slums of Beverly Hills, and most notably, Orange is the New Black, actress and director Natasha Lyonne is debuting her latest project.
According to Deadline, Netflix recently announced the premiere date of the series Russian Doll, a new series co-created by and starring Natasha Lyonne. The series will debut February 1, 2019, on the platform.
Netflix also unveiled some first-look photos for the eight-episode series. Not much information has been provided about the new show, but we’re looking forward to it based on its fun-sounding premise.

The series was created by not only Lyonne but also by Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland. Lyonne stars as the show’s main protagonist, a young woman named Nadia.
Deadline reports that the series follows Nadia on “her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City.”
So far, Russian Doll has been described as a dark comedy series.
Russian Doll boasts an all-female directing and writing team for the series, a step in the right direction for Netflix shows. Lyonne serves as director along with Headland, and Jamie Babbit.
The writing team is also comprised of Lyonne, Headland, Poehler, along with Jocelyn Bioh. Russian Doll will also feature some guests such as Chloë Sevigny, Dascha Polanco, Brendan Sexton III, Rebecca Henderson, Jeremy Bobb, Ritesh Rajan and Jocelyn Bioh.
