Friends From College: Season 2 – January 11

While the second season of this Netflix original series coming in January 2019 is filled with some the funniest and most talented performers working today — names like Keegan Michael Key and Cobie Smulders — the critical opinion of this show is fairly low.

Many critics find the group dynamic of the characters to be too obnoxious, which I think is part of the point. These are normal, respectable people who become obnoxious when they get together.

We all know those people. We all have been those people. If you can handle Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you can definitely handle these people.

Sex Education – January 11

I was highly tempted to write the words “Gillian Anderson” and leave it at that, because what other reason do you need?

In Sex Education, she plays a sex therapist and mother to Otis, an awkward teen played by Asa Butterfield.

With his special sex therapy knowledge, he teams up with bad girl Maeve (Emma Mackey) to start an underground sex therapy clinic at his school to help his fellow students deal with their awkward questions and problems.

Sounds like trouble!

Carmen Sandiego – January 18

As an aspiring globetrotter, I was obsessed with Carmen Sandiego as a kid. I loved the PBS game show and even had a computer game that took me all over the world tracking down criminals in exotic places.

I love Carmen Sandiego for not just inpiring a love of travel, but for teaching kids about the world and the different people in it — for demystifying foreign cultures and  inspiring intellectual curiosity over ignorant fear.

This new Netflix original series in January 2019 follows Carmen’s (Gina Rodriguez) exploits from her perspective and promises to be as educational as it will be entertaining.
