The Handmaid’s Tale: Elizabeth Reaser and Christopher Meloni to join season 3
By Ariba Bhuvad
It looks like Serena Joy may be gaining a friend in season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The Handmaid’s Tale left off on a bit of a cliffhanger (won’t ruin it for those who haven’t watched yet), and now we are anxiously waiting for season 3. While there is no premiere date as of yet, there is news regarding the cast for the next season (yay!). The Haunting of Hill House’s Elizabeth Reaser and Happy!’s Christopher Meloni are set to appear as guest stars.
Meloni will be playing the role of Commander Winslow, and Reaser is playing the role of his wife. Based on the character descriptions released, it appears that the Winslows will become fairly close to the Waterfords. They will make each other’s acquaintance when the Waterfords are hosted by the Winslows during a trip. Deadline described Commander Winslow’s character as “a powerful and magnetic Commander.” Oh gosh, do we need another one of these in The Handmaid’s Tale?
Mrs. Winslow will become a good friend of Serena’s (goodness knows she needs one) and according to the descriptions, the two will share a close bond. It will be a nice change to see Serena make a friend in her crazy world–especially after the events of season 2. Could this melt her heart even more? Maybe, just maybe.
Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale will follow June’s mission to break free of Gilead’s control (if that is even possible) and keep the resistance alive. There will be reunions, war, and everything in between which leaves us to wonder–could this be the most epic season of the series yet? We just want June to have some sort of happy ending with her family back together. But then there’s also Nick to worry about, isn’t there?
Production on season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale is in full swing with no premiere date as of yet.
