Lin Manuel Miranda to guest star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine
By Luke Lucas
He’s not going to miss his shot. Brooklyn Nine-Nine fan Lin Manuel Miranda will guest star on an upcoming episode of the show. We’ve got the details.
Per an Entertainment Weekly report, Lin Manuel Miranda will be a guest star on the March 7 episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, “The Golden Child.” He is set to play Amy Santiago’s (Melissa Fumero) brother David Santiago. Miranda was one of the most vocal supporters of Brooklyn Nine-Nine when Fox canceled it last spring. Now he gets to be part of the show he loves.
Miranda played a heightened version of himself in the latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I loved every minute of it. I hope that he plays the golden child in the title. We know that Amy is already a perfectionist. That was a point driven home by her book report craze, among other things, from “The Tattler.” If that’s a trait that runs in the family, brother David should be next level wholesome.
Unless, of course, he isn’t. The golden child could be referring to the brother that was perfect but walked from everything to find himself. That could be part of what drove Amy to be the person she is today.

Any way this plays out, it’ll be great to see Lin Manuel Miranda on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Per an earlier Entertainment Weekly report, show co-creator Dan Goor would like to get all of the actors who spoke up for the Nine-Nine after its cancelation on season six. That would include Mark Hamil. Would he use his voice talents and play some kind of jokester? Or, would he play an old hermit living in the far reaches of one of the five boroughs? I hope we find out.
It would also be fun. Amy tries her hardest to be her best and David swoops in and is flawless with little effort. I’m also looking forward to the dynamic between David and Jake (Andy Samberg). Jake and Amy are emotionally grounded characters. If someone so close to them was so detached I can just see Jake and Amy trying to tether David to anything they can.
