Santa Clarita Diet releases official (and bloody) season 3 trailer

The third season of Santa Clarita Diet will be bloodier and gorier than ever.

Santa Clarita Diet is finally returning for its third season at the end of March, and ahead of its premiere, Netflix has released a season 3 trailer, according to Deadline. There’s so much to dissect about this bloody, hilarious, and surprisingly endearing comedy series starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant. Over the course of two seasons, Barrymore’s character, Sheila has been grappling with being undead and enjoying chowing down on humans.

Her husband, Joel (Olyphant), and daughter Abby (Liv Hewson) are very much aware of her undead condition and have been by her side navigating through the horrors of it all. But as the story of Santa Clarita Diet enters its third season, things are about to change for the family. As you see in the season 3 trailer, Sheila is asking Joel to let her bite him so he too can be undead with her. Of course, this would mean a lot of things for the family, but mainly, Joel would have to deal with wanting to eat humans and staying alive for much longer than he imagined.

On the flip side, a forever life with Sheila sounds enticing, but desiring to consume humans is a whole other ball game. The third season of Santa Clarita Diet will definitely be a fun watch, especially given how hilarious the trailer is. While the show has always maintained a hilarity about it, there’s something about this season’s trailer that has a serious tone to it. I’m interested to see what that tone is implying and what it means for the family as Joel grapples with the decision to become undead.

If anyone’s asking me, I’m not sure being undead is the way to go. But hey, love makes us all do crazy things, and Joel just might go all in for the undead love of his life.
