The Undoing: Edgar Ramirez and Lily Rabe added to the cast of HBO’s series
HBO’s star-studded limited series The Undoing has added two more actors to the cast: American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace’s Edgar Ramirez and American Horror Story’s Lily Rabe.
Edgar Ramirez and Lily Rabe will star opposite Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant in The Undoing, which is being written by Big Little Lies‘ David E. Kelley and directed by The Night Manager‘s Susanne Bier.
The six-episode series is an adaptation of the book You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz. The plot centers on Kidman’s Grace Sachs a successful therapist and mother who seems to have it all, including the perfect marriage to a pediatric oncologist (Grant). That is, until her life unravels after a violent death and her husband’s disappearance. In the wake of her husband’s absence, Grace learns terrible things about the man she thought she knew. The devastating and public disaster forces an astonished Grace to realize that she hasn’t taken her own advice, leading her to reconstruct a new life for her and her son.
According to Deadline, Ramirez will take on the role of Detective Joe Mendoza. Ramirez is coming off Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his turn as Gianni Versace in American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. He has also starred in Point Break, Joy, and The Girl on the Train. He will next be seen in Netflix’s The Last Days of American Crime and Jungle Cruise.
Rabe will play a character named Sylvia Steinetz. She is probably best known for playing different roles in various seasons of American Horror Story. She also starred in the series The Whispers and the movie Miss Stevens. She can soon be seen in the TNT series Tell Me Your Secrets.
Kelley, Bier, and Kidman will serve as executive producers on The Undoing and Kelley will be the series’ showrunner.
With the casting of Ramirez and Rabe, The Undoing continues to add to its high-profile cast. With all the talent involved, the series is shaping up to be a must-see for fans of serious TV dramas.
