The Politician is gearing up for an epic first season as Bette Midler and Judith Light have officially joined the cast!
The Politician got an official premiere date on Netflix and with it comes some more exciting news. Over the weekend at Paleyfest, creator Ryan Murphy shared some cast details with the fans. Are you ready for it? Judith Light and Bette Midler will be joining the second season! Yes, that’s right, and now, September can’t come soon enough.
The series will premiere on Sept. 27th with an all-star cast ready to bring a very interesting story to life. The Politician stars Ben Platt, who will play a character named Payton Hobart who has dreams of being the President of the United States someday. But before he can actually achieve that goal, he needs to work his way through the most difficult thing of all–high school.
On his path to becoming President of the United States, Payton will start by running for student body president. In addition, he hopes to attend Harvard and hopes to achieve all this with his moral integrity intact. Good luck buddy, that is going to be easier said than done.
Light recently starred in another Ryan Murphy series, The Assassination of Gianni Versace, so this will not be her first rodeo with Murphy. And if his past work is an indication, The Politician will most likely not disappoint. And then, of course, there’s Midler whose career and name speaks for itself. Both of them join an absolutely amazing cast which already includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Benjamin Barrett, as reported by Deadline.
