Fear the Walking Dead season 5 gets a premiere date!

The ninth season of The Walking Dead comes to a close tonight but it turns out fans won’t need to wait too long for some more zombie action.  Understandably, with The Walking Dead soon to be out of the way, AMC wants to immediately get the ball rolling in building anticipation for the upcoming season of Fear the Walking Dead.

As a result, AMC announced yesterday the fifth season would premiere on June 2nd.

What’s more, is that a trailer for the new season will also be made available very soon (don’t be surprised if we end up sharing our thoughts on that).  AMC’s plan is to release the trailer to the public sometime today after it’s premiere screening at the Fear the Walking Dead panel for the currently ongoing WonderCon in Anaheim.

Season 5 is being described in the synopsis with “The group’s mission is clear: locate survivors and help make what’s left of the world a slightly better place” and that said mission “will be put to the ultimate test.”

Much like last season, Fear the Walking Dead will be taking strides to make the whole of the Walking Dead universe more connected by adding a familiar face from the parent show, this time being the former and later defecting Savior Dwight (Austin Amelio). The series also added Karen David (Legacies) and upped Alexa Nisenson (who plays Charlie) to a regular role for this upcoming season.
