Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki for Disney+!

Apparently, it takes more than Thanos to keep the God of Mischief down. Disney has confirmed its upcoming Loki series and that Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his fan-favorite villain. The announcement was revealed on The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day and later tweeted out by Disney’s official account.

Warning: Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War below

While Marvel fans will undoubtedly be desperate to see any footage possible of the new show, they may have to wait a little bit longer. According to USA Today, Loki isn’t expected to debut on Disney+ until the second year of the streaming service. In the meantime, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are slated to premiere quickly.

USA Today also revealed the series will be eight episodes long. It’s not clear if the show will serve as a mini-series or a continuation of Loki’s story.

However, the larger question here is how Marvel plans to bring Loki back. It seemed like Tom Hiddleston had made his last MCU film when Thanos murdered everyone’s favorite trickster early into Avengers: Infinity War. Will the upcoming, Avengers: Endgame answer that question or will he once again evade death through some of his own resourcefulness.

Since Disney+ takes place after Endgame it would be interesting to see if Loki is reincarnated or not. However, with many fans speculating that a Young Avengers series is coming, the show would offer the possibility of aging the God of Mischief down like he is in the comics.
