The Hulu limited series Little Fires Everywhere already had substantial star power in the form of Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, but now has even more with the addition of Joshua Jackson to the cast.

Jackson will play Bill Richardson, an attorney in Shaker Heights, Ohio in Little Fires Everywhere, an adaptation of Celeste Ng’s acclaimed book of the same name.

Jackson’s character is married to Witherspoon’s Elena, a strong-willed and energetic force. However, the couple starts to fight about issues beyond their youngest daughter Izzy (Megan Stott) when Bill agrees to act as their friends’ representation in a contentious custody battle.

Elena will also be squaring off against Washington’s character Mia Warren, who has recently moved to the neighborhood with her daughter.

Witherspoon and Washington are executive producing along with showrunner Liz Tigelaar and others. Tigelaar (Casual) is developing and writing the series as well.

Jackson first gained notice playing Pacey on Dawson’s Creek. Since then he’s starred in other series including Fringe and The Affair. He’ll also soon be seen in Netflix’s When They See Us.

In his time since Dawson’s Creek, Jackson has become a seasoned dramatic actor. He’ll be able to more than hold his own opposite Witherspoon. It will be interesting to see him appear opposite a star of her stature.

With such a starry cast and a story based on a critically and commercially successful recent work of fiction, Little Fires Everywhere looks to be another prestige project for Witherspoon after she produced and starred in HBO’s Big Little Lies. The interest in the project could also be beneficial to Hulu, helping it continue to expand its subscriber base through must-see original programming.
