Masters of Doom is coming to the USA Network!

USA Network has given the green light to the pilot of Masters of Doom, based on David Kushner’s non-fiction book and will be produced by the Franco brothers’ Ramona Films.

It is said to be eyed as an anthology series. Doom is the legendary shooter and his plot revolves around hell, demons and space marines, there is also plenty of material revolving around the game’s creation. And it seems like it must be worth it for the brothers to have actually signed up on it.

Masters of Doom is set to tell the stories of the “Lennon and McCartney of video games”, John Carmack and John Romero who together created one of the biggest video game franchise of all time, Doom. The show will also explore their friendship.

Masters of Doom will also be executively produced by WGA Award winner Tom Bissell (Gears of War, Uncharted). He also co-authored The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, which was later adapted into a movie by the elder Franco. Both Dave and James starred in it, with the latter winning a Golden Globe for his performance.

Romero reacted to the news and shared his expectations via twitter.

James Franco rose to fame in the late 90s thanks to Freaks and Geeks, but the show was canceled after one season before aging into a cult hit. Since then he starred in over a hundred movies and has been nominated for an Academy Award and won two Golden Globes.

Dave Franco got his major start on the show Scrubs before becoming a movie sensation and has starred in hits like Now You See Me and Nerve.
