Fear The Walking Dead season 5, episode 6 recap: The Little Prince
By Ariba Bhuvad
A hot air balloon, reunions, and a love letter make up this week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead.
Fear The Walking Dead was a bit slow this week but picked up towards the final few minutes–but don’t worry, we’ll get there. As the episode begins, Morgan and company are determined that they can fix the plane from the season 5 premiere and finally get things going. Of course, nothing ever goes as planned, and as soon as Al turned on the plane, the propeller came flying off. No one got hurt, luckily, but it did present a bit of a problem.
Meanwhile, Dwight continues the journey to follow Honey’s notes alongside John and stumbles across the next one at a diner. Eventually, the next note is found but John happens to read it first. Basically, it’s Honey’s final good-bye to Dwight asking him to stop the search. Unable to tell Dwight and afraid he’d take away one of the few things he had left in this crazy world, John withholds the contents of the note. I don’t know about all of you, but I thought that was pretty darn sweet.
Did I happen to mention that this week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead has a hot balloon? Well, it does and aboard it are Strand and Charlie with the propellors in hand to fix up the plane. While everyone watches from a distance in shock and awe, this moment of excitement turns into terror when the hot balloon runs out of fuel–and lands smack dab in the middle of the radioactive walkers.
I’m not sure how they will get out of this one but it breaks my heart that a big reunion sort of happened and was quickly taken away from us. As we begin to approach the mid-season finale, I have a lot of questions as to how the story is going to play out. Where are we headed with these group of kids, how does all this connect to the people Rick flew off with, and what is the end goal here with the plane? So. many. questions.
Fear The Walking Dead airs every Sunday on AMC at 9 PM EST!
