Emmys 2019: Which miniseries will snag nominations?
By Ariba Bhuvad
WHEN THEY SEE US/Netflix
Most Likely to be Nominated:
When They See Us
Premiered: May 31st, 2019 (just barely made the cut on deadline day!)
Where: Netflix
This Netflix limited series follows the true story of the wrongful conviction of five young black boys in the 1989 Central Park Jogger case. Written, created and directed by Ava DuVernay, When They See Us is one of the most emotional things to watch on television from the past year. It’s emotionally gripping and shakes you to the core as you watch and learn of the injustices these young boys, now grown men, had to endure.
I think it’s all but certain that the series will be nominated because people haven’t been able to stop talking about it or the cast, for that matter, and it honestly deserves the recognition. If not for anything else, then for the tragic truth and story that it depicts. I’d be shocked if it didn’t make the list, but I doubt that will be the case.

Escape at Dannemora
Premiered: Nov. 8th, 2018
Where: Showtime
Fans of Patricia Arquette can’t deny just how talented she is and how those talents shine bright like nothing else in Showtime’s Escape at Dannemora. The series follows the real-life story of two criminals that escaped prison with the help of a prison worker with whom they both had sexual relations with. It’s a pretty unbelievable story, and as you watch Paul Dano, Benicio Del Toro, and Arquette throughout it, you’ll be blown away with just how crazy the story is.
It is very likely to be nominated for the 2019 Emmys considering Arquette has already been recognized for her role at both the Critic’s Choice Awards and 76th Golden Globes and the show was also nominated both but didn’t win. Plus, the manner in which this story is told is very riveting and addicting to watch, and once you start, there’s no looking back.
Chances are we can expect to hear Escape at Dannemora announced come Tuesday morning.
