It’s been almost two years since the first season of Netflix’s crime drama Mindhunter premiered, and now season two is finally coming in August.

Mindhunter will return to Netflix on August 16, according to Deadline. The show’s second season is believed to pick up a couple of years after the events of season 1, which means it will be set somewhere between 1979 and 1981. It may focus on the Atlanta child murders to which it is thought 28 people fell victim.

Season 1 of Mindhunter debuted in October 2017 and season two was quickly ordered a month later.

In the show, Jonathan Groff plays Holden Ford and Holt McCallany plays Bill Tench, FBI agents trying to figure out a new approach to solving murders based in psychology and an understanding of the killer’s motives. For example, to get into their mindsets, Ford and Tench interview serial killers, which creates all kinds of colorful scenarios.

Ford is the young idealistic new recruit who had the idea to delve into killers’ minds, while Tench is the jaded older agent who nonetheless starts to see the value of what the pair are doing. The series is a fascinating, slow-burn about the development of modern crime solving.

Season 2 should include more of the same. Although if it does focus on the Atlanta child murders, it will take on an especially difficult case.
