David Fincher’s second Netflix series, “Mindhunter,” will be released this fall.

David Fincher is best known as the acclaimed director of such films as Seven, Fight Club, The Social Network, Zodiac, and his most recent project, Gone Girl, but he delved into TV with the debut of House of Cards in 2014 on Netflix, becoming the streaming service’s first original series.

Fincher serves as executive producer and directed the political drama’s first two episodes, and he’ll do the same for his latest show with Netflix, entitled, Mindhunter.

Collider reports that all 10 episodes of the new series co-produced by Charlize Theron will be available to binge-watch starting on Friday, October 13th. Mindhunter, set in 1979, follows two FBI agents who interview imprisoned serial killers to help them solve current murder cases.

Based on Mark Olshaker and John E. Douglas’ novel Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, the psychological thriller stars Jonathan Groff (Glee), Holt McCallany (Sully), Anna Torv (Fringe), Hannah Gross and Cotter Smith (The Americans). Netflix released a bleak teaser trailer and renewed the program for a second season earlier this year ahead of its premiere.

Fincher recently had two TV projects in the works with HBO that were cut due to budget concerns, including an adaptation of the UK series Utopia.

Mindhunter itself was also originally developed by the premium cable network to be adapted by Scott Buck (Dexter), but he later exited the project and became the showrunner of Netflix’s Marvel series, Iron Fist. Fincher currently has no new films on the horizon, though he’s reportedly in negotiations to direct the sequel to World War Z.

Netflix’s popular series Stranger Things is also slated to return for season 2 in October. Meanwhile, Fincher’s House of Cards debuted its 13-episode fifth season late last month to mixed reviews from critics following the exit of series creator Beau Willimon as showrunner after season 4.

Mindhunter premieres Friday, October 13th on Netflix.
