Amazon Prime releases first trailer for Goliath season three
Amazon Prime has released the first trailer for season three of Goliath, set to premiere on October 4th.
Amazon’s legal drama Goliath, starring Billy Bob Thornton as a reluctant lawyer for the people Billy McBride, is back for season three and Amazon Prime has just released the first full-length trailer for the new season. This time around, McBride gamely resists being pulled into a legal battle with a big-time rancher played by Dennis Quaid.
Thornton’s first line in the trailer is even, “I’m not your guy, honey,” in response to someone telling him that he’s a lawyer. “It’s what you do,” she says. Despite his best efforts to stay uninvolved, it looks like McBride gets fully caught up in a case of wrongful death and the privatization of natural resources. I guess it wouldn’t be any fun if he didn’t at least put on a show of apathy before getting involved.
Goliath pits Billy McBride against big-time companies and corporations that are running shady deals, taking advantage of customers, or perhaps in some way responsible for harm or death through negligence. Season one saw McBride find redemption by taking on a wrongful death lawsuit against a company represented by his former law partner. In season two, not much has changed for the washed-up McBride, who is still drinking too much and living out of a dingy motel. He takes on the case of a young man who is falsely accused of murder as the city makes a show of coming down hard on gangs and drugs.
The trailer for season three promises action and drama, with Thornton’s McBride, apparently battling some mental demons. Quaid’s evil rancher looks deliciously ruthless and smug, while Thornton’s calm bemusement in the face of chaos lends an air of humor to the proceedings.

Joining Thornton and Quaid are returning stars Nina Arianda, Tania Raymonde, Diana Hopper, Julie Brister, and Ana de la Reguera, as well as new guest stars Griffin Dunne, Beau Bridges, Sherilyn Fenn, Amy Brenneman, and Ileana Douglas. The series, created by Jonathan Shapiro and legal drama extraordinaire David E. Kelley, will see Lawrence Trilling return as showrunner for season three. The season premieres on October 4th on Amazon Prime.
