Another month brings a lot of cool new stuff to binge on Netflix. September brings us an eclectic mix of international fare, returning favorites, and new shows by reliable stand bys in every conceivable genre you could want.

Elite: Season Two – September 6

The sexy and twisted Spanish high school drama is back for season two and there’s a murder that needs solving. Elite has been likened to popular American series like Riverdale, full of murder and intrigue and adult actors playing children in too adult situations. I have a theory that viewers can really only appreciate the drama of teenagers when the characters are being played by adult actors. That’s part of what makes the film Brick so funny and effective, setting what is basically hardboiled crime fiction in a high school played with adult maturity.

Can you imagine how boring and awkward it would be if we were watching actual teenagers play out this stuff? Yuck. Anyway, last season Marina was killed and Nano has been arrested for her murder. Samuel is out to prove his innocence, while Marina’s brother Guzmán won’t stop until he uncovers the truth about his sister’s murder. The original cast is all returning, along with a few newcomers. The first trailer looks just as juicy and dramatic as anyone could hope.
