Finding Your Roots: Today’s leading artists trace family history in season 6

Season six of the PBS show Finding Your Roots finds host Henry Louis Gates Jr. tracing the family tree of 25 of today’s modern trailblazers.
Have you ever wondered about your favorite cultural icon’s family tree? Well, PBS is here to do the digging for their series Finding Your Roots.
For five seasons, host Henry Louis Gates, Jr. has traced the family tree of some of America’s most recognizable celebrities from entertainment to politics. Some of the most well-known guest that has appeared on the series: Seth Meyers, Michael Moore, Marco Rubio, and Ann Curry, all of which who were looking to trace back to the roots of their respective families.
So how does the show do it?
Gates, Jr. provides each of his guest with a “book of life” that is filled with information that was gathered by a team of professional genealogists. This allows them to give their guests a glimpse into the past of their family ancestry, which may hold the secrets to their family connections.
Finding Your Roots may seem like a show just for the smart people on the surface, but anyone can get into the show. It’s a truly fascinating series that will unlock a treasure trove of surprises for both the guest and the viewer, and the series could certainly provide a great trivia about some of our most famous icons that will impress your friends.
In October, a brand new season will premiere featuring 25 more politicians, entertainers, artists, and activists who will be in search of their family genealogy, providing even more surprising moments that will allow the series to continue to be one of the best PBS has to offer.
