9-1-1 spinoff series Lone Star casts Liv Tyler in female lead role

Liv Tyler is taking her talents to Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star spinoff series.
9-1-1 is getting a spinoff series, folks! And while this may not be news, what I’m about to say next will be. According to Deadline, the spinoff has just cast Liv Tyler in the female lead role! Yes, Liv Tyler. I’m feeling all sorts of Armageddon and Lord of the Rings nostalgia right now.
Tyler will be starring opposite of the incredibly hilarious Rob Lowe which will mark her first role after starring in HBO’s Leftovers. Fans of the original 9-1-1 series are acquainted with the nature and plot of this dynamic series. Which begs the question, what is the spinoff about?
First off, the locale is changing from sunny Southern California to Austin, Texas where Lowe’s character, Owen, now lives after working in New York City as a firefighter. Tyler’s role in the 9-1-1 spinoff is that of Chief Paramedic Michelle Blake. And as expected, Deadline describes her role as “a little rock ‘n’ roll, sometimes a bad girl but always boss”. Yup, that sounds about right.
While being a boss at work, Tyler’s character does have one major struggle in life–finding her little sister who disappeared some years ago. This becomes a point of stress and obsession for her which will manifest throughout the season.
I’m super excited to see what the 9-1-1 spinoff has in store for us, especially because the original is one I really enjoy. Plus, anything that involves Ryan Murphy is almost always a surefire success. And Liv Tyler, guys. LIV TYLER!
9-1-1: Lone Star will premiere on January 19th on Fox following the NFC Championship (great slot, by the way). It will then take over its predecessor’s timeslot of Monday 9 PM while it’s off during its midseason hiatus.
Are you excited? Because I’m super excited.
