Alexander Skarsgård to star in CBS All Access’ adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.

The Stand is roping in yet another Skarsgård brother into the Stephen King universe. Deadline reported that Alexander Skarsgård will be starring in the upcoming CBS All Access series adapting King’s novel by the same name.

This particular Skarsgård is joining an already stacked cast which consists of James Marsden, Amber Heard, Whoopi Goldberg, amongst many more. I haven’t read this novel but based on the cast, I’m feeling pretty stoked for whatever might be in store.

A. Skarsgård (we’ll call him A so as not to get him confused with his brother) is set to play the character of Randall Flagg. And while the name might sound innocent and welcoming, don’t be fooled, because his character is known as “The Dark Man”. FYI, this character has been mentioned multiple times through King’s novels and is known for his demonic behavior. Yikes.

While Goldberg’s character, Mother Abigail, seeks to spread a positive message, the character of Flagg–not so much. I mean he does have the ability to take over humans and animals, not scary at all, right?

More or less, The Stand will tell the story of a world inflicted by plague and stuck between good and evil. Basically, Goldberg’s Mother Abigail (she’s 108 years old, by the way) and a handful of others have to save the world from “The Dark Man”. And given that Flagg/The Dark Man has some ridiculous, freaky powers–the fight will certainly not be easy. Not even a little.

Next. 9-1-1 spinoff series Lone Star casts Liv Tyler in female lead role. dark

Details regarding premiere date, production, and the like have not yet been announced. Stay tuned to learn more and get ready to be spooked and frightened by yet another Skarsgård brother. They really love Stephen King, don’t they?
