Game of Thrones actor Richard Dormer is set to star in BBC America’s The Watch. What else is known about the television series?

From the world of the Night’s Watch to captaining “The Watch,” Game of Thrones star Richard Dormer will be staying busy. Dormer, who played flaming sword carrying Beric Dondarrion in the hit television series, is set to star as Sam Vines in BBC America’s The Watch.

He released a statement to express his excitement about the new project:

"“I’m so thrilled to be part of this brilliant madness and mayhem. I was immediately drawn to the multitude of layers to Sam Vimes, and I find the dynamic between him and his band of disenfranchised comrades very compelling.”"

The series is based on Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels, that have sold around 90 million copies. The books follow Vimes (Captain of The Watch) and a group of cops that come together to try and save their city. The city, Ankh-Morpork, has had crime legalized, and one can imagine that this might create some problems worth solving.

The eight-part series is being co-produced by BBC Studios and Narrativa, a production company founded by Pratchett in 2012 and now run by his daughter Rhianna and former business partner Rob Wilkins.

Other cast members include Adam Hugill (1917), Jo Eaton-Kent (Don’t Forget the Driver), Marama Corlett (Blood Drive), Lara Rossi (Robin Hood) and Sam Adewunmi (The Missing). Filming begins in Cape Town, South Africa at the end of September, and the series is expected to air sometime in 2020.
