The Old Man: Amy Brenneman set to co-star in FX pilot
The Leftovers star is set to co-lead The Old Man pilot for FX.
Amy Brenneman has officially joined the cast of the already star-studded pilot. Deadline reports the actress will co-star alongside the already announced Jeff Bridges as well as John Lithgow. FX announced The Old Man pilot back in July as well as Bridges’ casting.
Brenneman’s character is Zoe, a woman recovering from a divorce. She gets swept up in Dan Chase’s world when she rents him a room without realizing who he is. Thankfully, it sounds like Zoe is a fighter who will manage to survive the chaos that ensues.
Bridges is set to play the character of Chase, a man who has to face his past in order to move forward. A former CIA Agent, an attack pulls him away from his off-the-grid lifestyle and back into the fray.
The FX pilot will be written by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine, based on the popular novel of the same name by Thomas Perry. Both Steinberg and Levine serve as executive producers alongside Warren Littlefield, Dan Shotz, Jeff Bridges, David Schiff, and Jon Watts.
Recently, Brenneman starred in The Leftovers as Laurie Garvey for all three seasons of the HBO show’s run. She’s also known for Judging Amy as the titular character and Private Practice as Dr. Violet Turner. For Judging Amy she earned 3 Primetime Emmy nominations, 3 Golden Globe nominations, and 1 Screen Actors Guild nomination.
