This is Us casting news: Tim Matheson to play season 4 role
There’s a new dad in This is Us-town for season 4!
This is Us just tapped a Faber College alum for a role in season 4. You guys up for a toga party? Because Tim Matheson, who played Eric “Otter” Stratton in National Lampoon’s Animal House, will play Rebecca’s father, Dave.
In previous seasons, Elizabeth Perkins (Big, Weeds) played Rebecca’s domineering mother. We’ve never seen her father until now and know from a hint dropped by Mandy Moore that Rebecca is more of a daddy’s girl, which isn’t hard to understand having seen her mom in action.
During the recently released teaser for season 4 and some promotional photos showing Rebecca and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) sitting in a restaurant with Rebecca’s parents. Moore also teased “my father plays a bigger role in Rebecca and Jack’s relationship moving forward.”
Knowing how Jack eventually has a problem with drinking too much alcohol, I wonder if the role Dave plays in their relationship is that he also has a drinking problem, which is why Rebecca gives Jack a stern ultimatum when his drinking becomes a problem.
Matheson has been in tons of films and television shows, having started on legendary shows like Leave it to Beaver and My Three Sons. He also had memorable roles on The West Wing, Burn Notice, and most recently, on The Affair. He’s also a regular cast member of Netflix’s Virgin River.
