USA Network’s new series Masters of Doom has two stars to lead its pilot — Eduardo Franco and Patrick Gibson.

USA’s Network’s new series Masters of Doom now has two new faces tied to the production.

According to Deadline, Eduardo Franco (Booksmart) and Patrick Gibson (The OA) are set to lead in the pilot episode. Gibson and Franco will lead a talented cast that will include Siobhan Williams (Deadly Class), Jane Ackermann (Neptune), and John Karna (Valley of the Bloom), with Rhys Thomas (Documentary Now!, SNL) signed to direct the episode.

Masters of Doom is based on the nonfictional book by David Kushner that told the story of John D. Carmack and John Romero who founded and video game company in 2003 and made a profound influence on modern-day pop culture. The book was a best-seller, and it led to USA Network greenlighting a pilot of the television series in June.

The pilot episode was written and executive produced by Tom Bissell, a WGA Award Winner for his work on Gears of War. Franco is tapped to play Romero, a brilliant young programmer who is destined to become a superstar in the video game industry. Gibson will play Carmack, a genius who helped created what we know today as the “first-person-shooter” genre (bonus points if you can name the game.)

Masters of Doom was only greenlighted for a pilot episode and the success of that episode will determine if USA Network will order more episodes. The network is in search of hit shows at the moment, so the hope is that Masters of Doom will be a hit for the network.
