Little Voice, the new dramedy from Apple Music, finally has set its cast for Season 1.
Little Voice finally has its cast.
According to Deadline, the JJ Abrams and The Waitress duo of Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson has announced that it has set its cast for the first season. Playing the main roles are Shalini Bathina (Undergrad), Colton Ryan (Homeland), Brittany O’Grady (Star) and Sean Teale (The Gifted).
The “dramedy,” with each episode running a half-hour long, acts as a love letter of sorts to New York’s long-diverse scene. The title “Little Voice” stems from Bareilles 2007 breakthrough album, and the series will revolve around a cast of early 20-somethings who are trying to find their voice.
In some ways, this concept seems like it has been done before, mainly with Star. However, Little Voice promises to be fresher and more personal than its scripted counterparts, and that is what makes this series very intriguing. Little Voice was given a 10-episode series order, which will go straight-to-series, meaning that there will be no trial period, the show will get its full 10-episode run.
Joining the main cast will be Samrat Chakrabarti, Gopal Divan, Sakina Jaffery, and Emma Hung.
The series was the brainchild of Abramaand Bareilles, both of whom will also serve as executive producers through Abrams’ Bad Robot production. Nelson will serve as a lead writer. As for Bareilles, the singer has sold over one million albums and has garnered over seven Grammy nominations. Could an Emmy for Little Voice be in the mix? Only time will tell on that front.
