The Apple TV+ original series See has unveiled its first full length trailer and the results are epic.

Apple TV+’s See is an elaborate post-apocalyptic thriller set in a world in which most the population was wiped out by a virus and leaving the surviving future generations blind. Jason Momoa plays a tribal leader whose twin children are mysteriously born with the ability to see, throwing their world into chaos and doubt.

For the people of this future, sight is seen as something unnatural that challenges their entire way of life. Some seem to feel that the ability to see was taken away from humankind as punishment or as a way to protect them from evil. The twins’ lives are threatened when a powerful queen becomes determined to kill them, forcing their father to lead a rebellion to save their lives and liberate his tribe.

Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) stars as the twins’ father Baba Voss and Alfre Woodard (Marvel’s Luke Cage) as his spiritual leader Paris. They are joined by a cast of international stars along with a cast and crew which include blind and low-vision members.

Employing members of the community which is being portrayed in the narrative is a smart and inclusive move that mainstream entertainment often overlooks. Not only do they deserve the same employment opportunities as anyone else, they offer authenticity and perspective to a culture and way of life that is entirely unique to their experience.

As for the trailer itself, it is nothing short of epic. It seems that the world has been sent back to the dark ages, and after generations has reverted back to a medieval sort of middle earth landscape. Primitive tribes hunt in the woods, ride horses, build small villages in remote wildernesses. Vision is simply a myth to these people who are born blind and have never known anyone sighted. The world we’re shown in the trailer is vast and lushly detailed, with scenic panoramas that would give Lord of the Rings a run for its money. Add in some intense battle scenes fought between highly capable blind warriors and you’ve got a lot going on.
