The Lord of the Rings finds its young Galadriel!

The cast of the upcoming Amazon series continues to quietly expand its cast. Deadline reports The Lord of the Rings has added Morfydd Clark in the role of young Galadriel. Like previous casting reports, Amazon has yet to comment on it but Deadline’s source has confirmed it.

If Galadriel sounds familiar, it’s because the character has actually appeared in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films. Cate Blanchett originally played her in the movies, however, Morfydd Clark will be taking over for the new series. The show is set to follow a story before The Fellowship of the RIng with a new cast of characters.

Clark joins an already impressive cast which includes Ema Horvath, Will Poulter, Markella Kavenagh, and Joseph Mawle. She currently has a supporting role on BBC’s/HBO’s His Dark Materials and she will also be in the upcoming Dracula show.

Pre-production for season 1 has already begun for the show in New Zealand, and Amazon made the decision to grant the series an early season 2 renewal. The choice allows the writers to begin working on the season 2 scripts early so the wait between the seasons won’t be as long.
