Jon Chu has a new idea for a Star Wars spin-off!

The latest Star Wars trilogy may have come to an end, but the universe seems to have been revitalized thanks to Disney+. The Mandalorian has been a massive success for the streaming service, and already it seems like creators are looking to add shows to its roster. In fact, director Jon Chu recently spoke out on Twitter about what series he’d like to see.

Warning: Minor spoilers for Rise of Skywalker below!

Chu, who most notably directed Crazy Rich Asians and is set to direct In the Heights, would love to see Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose Tico get her own series. The character of Rose was introduced in The Last Jedi, and was considered pretty polarizing by fans. In fact, things got so bad that Kelly Marie Tran was eventually bullied off of social media which caused her castmates and others to speak out.

However, it seemed like the online noise may have worked because Rose had a much smaller role in Rise of Skywalker than the previous film. While she may not be a favorite, if Chu has an interesting storyline to explore in a television show then maybe she could win some fans over. Based on his tweet, Chu does seem confident that Disney would be interested in his idea for a series.

Would you watch a Rose spin-off? Do you think there should be more Star Wars shows on DIsney+? Be sure to tell us in the comment section below!
