The Mandalorian debuted before the holidays but where’s all the Baby Yoda merch?

It doesn’t come as a big surprise that Disney’s The Mandalorian became one of the most popular hits of 2019. However, what the company may not have expected was just how beloved Baby Yoda would become after only a small scene in the pilot. Considering no Baby Yoda merchandise will be available until the spring, it seemed like Disney missed out on an opportunity to capitalize on the show’s popularity during the holidays. However, the Disney CEO has finally addressed the late launch for the merch.

Bob Iger went onto The Star Wars Show where he said the main reason behind the wait was to prevent spoilers from getting out. Apparently, Jon Favreau wished to keep the reveal a secret, which meant no one knew Baby Yoda would appear in the first episode.

However, a research tool based on Amazon Products called Jungle Scout, reported just how big of a payday Disney might’ve missed. According to the company, Disney missed out on over three million dollars worth of potential sales based on the character’s growing popularity.

Luckily, when the merchandise is finally released, fans will have a wide variety to choose from. According to reports, Disney is currently developing “action figures, mini-figures, electronic plush toys” and a regular stuffed version.
