Hunters: Amazon Prime reveals release date and first trailer
Amazon Prime sets release date for Jordan Peele’s Hunters and releases the first full-length trailer.
Amazon Prime has set February 21 for the release of the Jordan Peele executive produced Nazi-hunting action drama series Hunters. The series is set in 1970s New York City where a ragtag group of diverse specialists comes together to form a secret Nazi-hunting team. While Nazis are living secretly among the population, this team hunts them down to prevent them from enacting their plan to create a Fourth Reich in the United States.
Unfortunately, their vigilante acts do not go unnoticed as a police detective sets out to find them and bring the group to justice. The series is led by Al Pacino with Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone, Greg Austin, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Dylan Baker and Lena Olin co-starring. Hunters is created by David Weil (the oft-cited but still unproduced and highly anticipated Moonfall), who also serves as executive producer and showrunner.
If the series is anywhere near as good as this first trailer, we are in for a treat. The trailer balances humor, action, violence, and drama against the perfectly chosen “Psycho Killer” by Talking Heads. While I loathe to marry references to illustrate style, it is rather like Edgar Wright edited the trailer for a Tarantino film (see also: the poster). The rhythm of the song perfectly punctuates the action of the trailer and both counters and compliments the content.
It is a wildly dynamic, compelling, and fun piece of advertising. It is my favorite kind of trailer and is exactly the same blend of elements that made the ads for Max Mad: Fury Road and John Wick 3: Parabellum mini-masterpieces of film editing. I dare you to watch this and not be pumped.
